Student Orientation

Starting with the Fall 2012 semester, students will be required to complete the RCC Moodle Student Orientation Course in order to register for an online class (Sections 40-49). Once you are accepted at RCC, you are given a Moodle account and are automatically enrolled in the Orientation course, so you can complete the course immediately.

There are some groups who will be excluded from this requirement, though completion of the orientation is still recommended. Those who are excluded include the following:

  1. Students who have already completed the orientation, and received their certificates.
  2. Students who have successfully completed an online course (Sections 40-49) using Moodle between Spring 2011 and Spring 2012.

Any students who do not meet one of the above qualifications will have to successfully complete the orientation before they will be permitted to register for an online course.

Once you log into Moodle, you will see the course listed in your courses. If it is not there, you can enroll yourself in the course. The link above will take you directly to the course. Since you’ll be enrolled in the course, you can complete the activities and submit them. This will help us to determine who has and who has not completed the required orientation course.

Once you complete the course, submit the Academic Integrity Policy assignment and earn at least 80% on the Orientation quiz, you will earn a certificate which declares you have successfully complete the Orientation. You can print this certificate or e-mail it to your instructors. Once your completion has been processed, you’ll be able to enroll in online courses through WebAdvisor.
